Proven Steel Protection Projects Across Diverse Industries

Created as part of a theatrical performance in New York City by the Nerve Tank, this sphere plays different bits of music based on the way it is rolled. Commissioned by Arts Brookfield and presented on the Grace Plaza in midtown Manhattan, Glory Road featured Sisyphus pushing this 6 ½ foot sphere.

All projects on this campus in the last ten years have been hot-dip galvanized because they like the ease of specifying galvanizing. Originally this job was specified paint only, yet the college and fabricator stepped in and pushed hot-dip galvanizing.

Hot-dip galvanizing was selected for the coating durability and initial life-cycle cost. The job cost may be slightly higher initially, but due to the longevity of the coating, this wil cut down on the maintenance and up-keep of the project, therefore lowering the overall costs of the project.

The main structure of the 10-story South Campus Central Chiller plant is comprised of all galvanized structural steel. Corrosion is not an option for this structure, as the galvanized steel will be responsible for holding up thousands of tons of HVAC and chiller equipment for the years to come.

The consulting engineer for the Rich Street Bridge was looking for a coating system that would stand the test of time against high vehicle and pedestrian traffic in busy downtown Columbus.

When driving steel piling into the ground, who knows what the steel may come into contact with. Moisture, minerals, acids, rocks, tree roots, the list can go on and on.

During a visit with the Marnell Las Vegas office, the design team was exploring options for both the screen wall design and the HVAC chiller unit structure, attached to the Casino.

The historic Worly Building nestled in the Brewery District within Columbus, Ohio, was recently renovated to be used for a mixed use retail property.

All of the connecting plates and angles were galvanized. The rest of bridge was blasted and painted, as the structure was too large to galvanize.

Paint over galvanizing gave the bridge the added life and fit in nicely with the pathway and surrounding area. The bridge is over a highway and this will give the authority a maintenance-free structure.

Sustainable products have more of an impact in Canada than they presently do in the United States. The environmentalists in Canada have kept a close eye on the Vale Nickel Plant, so using sustainable material in the project was a high priority.

This project was right on the river in a harsh environment and galvanizing was the perfect fit for both visual and coating. Turnaround time was very important, and the galvanizer turned this project around in 48 hours per truckload.

Hot Dip Galvanizing was selected for Coating Durability because the project is in a high profile area and final restoration of the facility is in a high visibility area.

Pennsylvania Power and Light had used paint for several years on this product with no success of longevity. They came to the galvanizer to see what they could "apply to their trailers to stop corrosion.

Hot-dip galvanizing was selected due to the industrial setting of this facility and the climate in Ohio.
