Paige Farley - Hackel Memorial Park

The Paige Farley - Hackel Memorial Park is a playground bringing hope and joy to area children and families. Located adjacent to a Salvation Armys Children Learning Center in Boston, the park was dedicated in the memory of Paige Farley - Hackel - a member of The Salvation Armys Greater Boston Advisory Board who lost her life during September, 11, 2001 - the playground is a representation of her dedication to the Salvation Armys mission of improving lives. The memorial features two granite posts signifying the fallen World Trade Center Towers, and a steel arch symbolizing Americas achievements with the WTC, painted Salvation Army colors (blue, red, yellow).

The highly visible structure was hot-dip galvanized and treated with the duplex system for visual appeal, corrosion protection, and overall durability. Choosing hot-dip galvanizing was important to the architect because the project needed excellent protection in the harsh winter conditions of New England. The steel arch, its supports, pipes, base plates, letters, anchor bolts and nuts were hot-dip galvanized and then painted.

The results of the vibrant colors and arch reinforced the developers belief that all exterior steel should be galvanized and painted. With the choice to use hot-dip galvanizing, the Memorial will be a long-lasting maintenance free representation to the community.
