The Ohio Expo Center & State Fairgrounds is entering a new era with its striking North Entry Gate and Canopy in Columbus, Ohio.
Designed to welcome approximately 80% of Ohio State Fair visitors, the structure combines modern functionality with architectural inspiration from the Great Seal of Ohio.
The project incorporated approximately 40,000 lbs. of galvanized steel, including beams, channels, plate, angle, and curved HSS members. Hot-dip galvanizing was selected for its corrosion protection, durability, sustainability, and low life-cycle cost.
A collaborative effort between Turner Construction, Wellogy Consultants, Bennett Engineering, Thomas Steel Inc., and the galvanizing team helped deliver the complex canopy ahead of the 2025 Ohio State Fair.
