One of New York City’s most critical rail corridors is getting a new life.

The Park Avenue Viaduct Replacement Project, led by the MTA and Metro-North Railroad, is modernizing a structure that has served Grand Central Terminal for more than 130 years.

Phase 1 replaced 8,240 feet of track infrastructure and installed 128 prefabricated bridge sections while keeping commuter service operational.

With 4,680 tons of galvanized steel, including 496 girders up to 65 feet long, hot-dip galvanizing provides long-term corrosion protection, durability, and reduced maintenance for this critical infrastructure.

Even more impressive, the project is currently 51 months ahead of schedule and $93 million under budget.

Galvanized steel helps ensure this historic rail corridor is built to perform for generations.
