Rio Rinassico Gorge Bridge

The Val di Non is known for natural beauty, architecture and apples. When a precast concrete bridge was damaged by a slow moving landslide on a steep side of the gorge, it was closed and removed. Without another route to keep the small towns in the region connected, the bridge across the gorge is vital to the region’s economy, which is reliant on tourism and agriculture.

Acrow supplied a modular steel bridge to enable access over the Rio Rinassico Gorge in the Province of Trento in northern Italy while a new bridge is built. This long term temporary bridge has a length of 67 meters in 3 continuous spans and a width of 3.67 meters. The epoxy aggregate deck surface and design load of 44mt truck complies with Eurocode design standards.

After extensive site preparation including the installation of micropiles to provide stabilization to the bank of the south slope of the gorge, the assembled Acrow bridge was lifted in two segments onto the bearings with a crane and installed in just six days. It is expected that the long-term temporary bridge will remain in place until a new bridge is completed, which is expected to take several years.
