JPMorgan Chase 270 Park Ave

JPMorgan Chase's 60-story, 2.5 million square foot headquarters at 270 Park Avenue utilized 1,500 tons of hot-dip galvanized steel for upper floors to combat corrosive conditions from heat and moisture generated by electrical equipment. This $3 billion supertall structure is the tallest building in New York completely powered by hydroelectric energy.

In 2024 another supertall has reached its apex in downtown Manhattan. JPMorgan Chase located at 270 Park Ave- a massive structure is rising on a full-block site: bound by Park Avenue to the east, Madison Avenue to the west, East 47th Street to the south, and East 48th Street to the north. Park 270 stands at 60-stories and will yield 2.5 million square feet of office space with a capacity of 15,000 employees. Park 270 will be the tallest structure in New York completely powered by hydroelectric energy. This is first major development project under the 2017 Midtown East rezoning plan, which incentivized taller commercial project in the Manhattan area.

The new JPMorgan Chase building is the tallest structure in NY completely powered by hydroelectric energy, a roughly $3 billion dollar investment.  Banker Steel Company and NYC Constructors completed the structural steel for the One Vanderbilt project in New York, NY. The steel used in Spiral was fabricated in the Virginia, New Jersey, and Orlando plants of Banker Steel Company.  The Spiral stands at 1,400 feet tall at 70 stories. The top floors of JP Morgan Chase building is where you will find the galvanized steel members. This is to control thecorrosive environment that the steel will be subject to due to the heat and moisture from electrical components on top of the building Roughly 1,500 tons of steel was hot dipped galvanized on this super structure.  Hot-Dip galvanizing was chosen for the corrosion performance and the longevity of the coating.  Over to course of time this will minimize preventative maintenance and allow the steel framing to last for decades to come.

“JPMorgan Chase is proud to have called New York City home for more than 200 years and this building is a symbol of our long-term investment that will impact future generations of New Yorkers,” Jamie Dimon, JPMorgan Chase Chairman and CEO, said. “I am so proud of the exceptional and dedicated team of people who have worked through very challenging conditions to get the job done and complete this phase of the project.”
