Components

Trailer structure (tubular)

Built for the demanding conditions of utility-scale solar construction, the Solar Reel Trailer keeps renewable energy projects moving efficiently in the field.

Designed to transport and deploy massive reels of electrical cable across solar sites, the trailer must withstand abrasive soil, moisture, UV exposure, and heavy equipment traffic. To ensure long-term durability, hot-dip galvanizing was selected to protect the entire steel structure.

Weighing approximately 11,000 lbs., the trailer's size and tubular design required close collaboration between the fabricator and galvanizer. Early planning ensured proper venting, draining, lifting, and design considerations for a successful galvanizing process.

The result is complete corrosion protection inside and out, delivering exceptional durability, abrasion resistance, and low maintenance in harsh environments.

The Solar Reel Trailer is a great example of how smart engineering, collaboration, and hot-dip galvanizing help support the future of renewable energy.

They needed a economical, durable coating system. HDG is exactly what they specified and they were convinced of the corrosion protection needed from previous work experiences.

Mayflower II Restoration

The Mayflower II was an aging replica of the Mayflower. The Mayflower II has welcomed 25 million visitors since it arrived in Plymouth in 1957 as a gift from the British for American solidarity and sacrifice during World War II.

Rutgers Solar Canopy Project Location

All projects on this campus in the last ten years have been hot-dip galvanized because they like the ease of specifying galvanizing. Originally this job was specified paint only, yet the college and fabricator stepped in and pushed hot-dip galvanizing.

Vale Nickel Plant

Sustainable products have more of an impact in Canada than they presently do in the United States. The environmentalists in Canada have kept a close eye on the Vale Nickel Plant, so using sustainable material in the project was a high priority.
