Smith Transportation Equipment (STE) is the leading manufacturer of Airline Ground Support Equipment in the United States. STE was founded in 1994 and is located in Byhalia, MS, just 20 miles southeast of the Memphis International Airport. STE is dedicated solely to the design and manufacture of high lift vehicles for the airline industry.
Their product line ranges from models to service Regional Jets to models designed specifically to accommodate high capacity aircraft, such as the Airbus A380. Airline ground support truck platforms are galvanized. Since the hot-dip galvanized material in these platforms are in contact with dissimilar metals Smith Transportation worked closely with the galvanizer to identify areas and methods of creating barriers between dissimilar metals.
