A desolate Carroll Creek in Fredrick, Maryland was selected as a site to be renovated and make more available for the community. They insisted that the area be as sustainable as possible. All structural steel on this site was hot dip galvanized and painted by others.

All of the Light Poles, Trash Receptacles, Fencing and Lawn Furniture were galvanized because the design firm, HNTB of Baltimore, MD, had specified hot dip galvanizing for many of their Urban Design projects with much success. They chose Galvanizing not just for the Sustainability but the economics and superior corrosion protection they have experienced. The City warned they would not have the money to maintain this structure in the future, which also helped the argument for using galvanized steel.

The Steel fabricator Antietam Metals out of Williamsport, Maryland was brought to the galvanizer with a specification they had followed, by HNTB. The galvanizer had to overcome many obstacles, one from the fabricator who had not had much experience with galvanizing a project as visible and the size of this one to be not only galvanized but painted over as well. They had to be convinced of the experience, trust, and care that would be given to their structures.

This steel fabricator saw most of his work like pieces of art, more so than a steel structure. The Galvanizer performed well and this very open area, has brought in not only the community, but many visitors and all the while having great exposure for Hot-Dip Galvanizing.
