The East 79th Street Station located in Cleveland, Ohio is the last key station to be constructed in compliance with the American With Disabilities Act (ADA). The total cost of this project is 10 million. RTA engineers designed the station, and Panzica Construction is the lead contractor.

The RTA project was fabricated by Nova Structural Steel located in Cleveland, Ohio. The unique design calls for access to the station through a series of ramps and stair structures down the existing hillside. The track crossing will be protected by railroad gate, flashing lights and audible bells.

The fabricator worked closely with the galvanizer to meet the scheduling demands of the material which also needed to be painted prior to installation. The RTA will stand the test of time thanks to the protection of the hot-dip galvanizing / paint and make the area safer and more convenient. The duplex system was selected due to aesthetics, coating durability and corrosion performance in a high traffic area which will serve the area residents for years to come, not to mention the Lake Erie weather conditions.
