The Irish Hill Tower, erected in the hills of Upstate New York is an aircraft communication testing facility. The eight story tower stands on a hill across from another facility on an opposite hill which sends communications to the airplanes that will eventually be mounted on the tower.

The decision to hot-dip galvanize this structure was easy as it is exposed to the winter conditions of Upstate New York.

The decision to hot-dip galvanize this structure was easy as it is exposed to the winter conditions of Upstate New York. The fabricator worked closely with the galvanizer to keep on schedule for the project which was erected over the summer.

In addition to corrosion protection, coating durability was also a factor in the decision to hot-dip galvanize. The durability of hot-dip galvanizing appealed to the design team due to the function of the tower, with the intention of mounting aircrafts to the steel.
