Specifications
Voigt & Schweitzer has learned, over the past 10 years, working with the specifiers in the U.S., that by writing a spec that says, "All structural material must meet ASTM A-123 or structural bolts to meet A-153," it does not always give their customer the product they were expecting. This is why we have written a CSI-compatible spec to help the spec-writers. This non-proprietary specification
| "The updated Voigt & Schweitzer specification is CSI compatible and addresses the concerns of the fabricator, specifier and the galvanizer." |

addresses certain characteristics of Hot Dip Galvanizing before they can become potential problems. Hot Dip Galvanizing is a protective coating as per ASTM A-123. When a specifier requires an architectural finish on his project, this is not a problem for the Voigt & Schweitzer group of Hot Dip Galvanizers, as long as it is written and specified the way it is needed.
For the best possible finish, V&S should be called in at the design stage, and there should be a mandatory meeting with the steel fabricator prior to fabrication.
